What To Wear

Tracksuit bottoms (thick), trainers (Hi-Tec Squash / Indoor shoes are ideal) and tee-shirt. We provide the rest of the equipment for beginners. Once you decide you like the sport, then you can begin buying your own equipment.


Pavel Rynes

Pavel coaches both our Juniors and Adults. He is also the head coach at Whitgift School, teaching Foil, Epee and Sabre full-time. They achieved the best U16 results in the 2013 Public Schools Fencing Championships.

As an active fencer Pavel was a member of the Senior Epee National Team of the Czech Republic and has participated in numerous World Cup competitions and thus gained fencing experience of the highest international level. He has familiarised himself with various training methods whilst fencing one year in Italy and Germany. Pavel gained his Level 3 coaching qualification after he moved to Great Britain and in 2011 he attended the Maestro level coaching course in Italy.

Alan Grafton

Alan coaches the Beginners and Intermediates classes. He is a full-time coach who's has been coaching for 20 years and coaches at various schools and clubs in the area.

Alan has the following Instructor qualifications: British Academy of Fencing Level 3 (Moniteur) Foil, Level 2 Epee and British Fencing Level 3 Foil, Level 2 Epee and Sabre.
